Continuing Education Despite Financial Challenges
For many young people, completing high school represents an important achievement. It is a moment filled with hope, ambition, and dreams for the future. However, for some students, the journey becomes difficult when they are unable to afford the cost of continuing their education.
The transition from secondary school to university, college, vocational training, or other forms of higher education can involve tuition fees, accommodation, books, transportation, learning materials, and other expenses. When families experience financial hardship or difficult social and economic circumstances, these costs can become significant barriers.
The Lee Ann Scholarship Initiative was established to help address some of these educational barriers faced by deserving young Murle students.
Since 2020, the initiative has supported young people who have struggled to continue their education after completing high school. The scholarship seeks to create opportunities for students who demonstrate genuine educational need and a commitment to pursuing their studies.
Creating Opportunities Through Education
The Lee Ann Scholarship may support students pursuing different forms of education, depending on available resources and individual circumstances. These may include secondary education, university education, college and higher education, vocational training, skills development, and other appropriate educational programs.
Our purpose is not simply to provide financial assistance. We want students to have an opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience that can help them build more independent futures.
Education can open doors that may otherwise remain closed. Moreover, it provides knowledge applicable to professional life, entrepreneurship, community service, church ministry, and other responsibilities.
Students Are Encouraged to Take Responsibility
Scholarship support also comes with responsibility. The scholarship program expects beneficiaries to take their education seriously, make reasonable academic progress, use support appropriately, and work toward greater independence.
Admissions officers assess students based on factors such as financial need, commitment, progress, conduct, and potential.
Where appropriate, the institution may ask students to provide documentation such as admission letters, fee statements, results, and receipts.
Education as an Investment
We believe that helping one young person continue their education can have an impact beyond that individual.
An educated young person may eventually become a teacher, health worker, administrator, entrepreneur, professional, church leader, community leader, or mentor.
This is why the Lee Ann Scholarship views education as a long-term investment in people and communities.
Our hope is to see students progress through:
Education → Skills → Independence → Service → Community Impact
