More Than a Scholarship: Education, Faith, Mentorship and Responsibility
A scholarship can help pay for education, but education itself is about much more than financial assistance.
At the Lee Ann Scholarship Initiative, we believe young people need opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, character, faith, responsibility, and a vision for how they can contribute to others.
For this reason, our approach is built around four important areas:
Education. Faith. Mentorship. Responsibility.
Together, these principles shape our desire to support students as they progress through their educational journeys.
Education
Education is at the center of the Lee Ann Scholarship Initiative.
We seek to help deserving young Murle students access and continue meaningful educational opportunities when financial barriers make this difficult.
Depending on available resources and individual circumstances, students may pursue secondary education, university education, college and higher education, vocational training, skills development, or other appropriate educational programs.
Education can provide students with knowledge and qualifications that can help them pursue future opportunities.
Faith
The Lee Ann Scholarship is a Christian-based education initiative.
We encourage beneficiaries to develop Christian values and a commitment to serving others.
Values such as integrity, compassion, discipline, responsibility, respect, and service can influence how a person uses their education and opportunities.
We want students to understand that education can be used not only for personal advancement but also as a means of serving families, churches, communities, and others.
Mentorship
Students can benefit greatly from guidance and encouragement as they progress through education.
Mentorship can help young people think about their educational choices, future careers, personal development, and responsibilities.
Through appropriate mentorship, students can receive practical advice and encouragement from people with relevant experience.
The goal is to help students recognize their potential and make responsible decisions about their future.
Responsibility
Educational support creates an opportunity, but students also have responsibilities.
Beneficiaries are expected to take their education seriously, use support appropriately, make reasonable academic progress, demonstrate responsible conduct, and work toward greater independence.
This principle is important because the long-term goal is not permanent dependency.
We want scholarship support to help students develop the education and skills they need to build sustainable futures.
Preparing Students to Serve
The Lee Ann Scholarship hopes to see beneficiaries become people who contribute positively to their communities.
A student may eventually become a teacher, health worker, entrepreneur, professional, church leader, administrator, community leader, or mentor.
The journey we envision is:
Education → Skills → Independence → Service → Community Impact
A scholarship can help open a door, but what a student does with that opportunity can influence many lives.
Our commitment is therefore to encourage educational progress alongside faith, mentorship, responsibility, and a spirit of service.
